Windows 10: Windows 10, display: multiple monitor background stops spanning after sleep

MS Windows 10 home, version 10.0.19044 build 19044,i7-6700K @ 4GHz cpu with 16 GB RAM, 237 GB M2 SSD,AMD Radeon RX-480 graphics with two ASUS 27 inch LCD monitors.After boot, each background panorama picture is correctly spanned across both displays. But if my PC goes to sleep, upon wake the background panorama will be repeated on each display, or sometimes just two displays of the left or right side of a panorama, not spanned even when "span" is selected, or re-selected. The only thing so far I've found to reset it back to normal is to do a reboot.

I have a folder with multiple images that cycle through my background on two monitors:

1 is a Dell 24" attached via DisplayPort

2 is a Wacom 24" Cintiq attached via DVI

I recently switch over the Dell 24" to a DisplayPort from DVI. The backgrounds are set to Fit (each monitor with its own image) and cycle every 10 minutes. Since the change in cable, every once in a while, the backgrounds will decide to Span both monitors
instead of Fit. How can I stop this?

The display adapter driver (an Nvidia GTX780) is updated now and its still Spanning though the setting say Fit. The monitor drivers are both listed as Generic PnP Drivers.

If you go to Settings :: Personalization :: Background, is it actually in Span mode or is still in Fit mode? I'm guessing that the actual problem is that the monitor isn't enumerating correctly and the desktop slideshow code is seeing only one monitor at
that time, and thus displaying the same image on both monitors.
