  1. Windows 10 - display options

I attempted to hook my son’s new HP Envy lap top to a larger HP monitor, under Display Settings I did have the ability to select Duplicate, monitor 1 only, Monitor 2 only etc. This is under the Multiple Displays section.

This initially (multiple display) worked but now the monitor is showing “no signal - check cable” while connected via HDMI. Also while connected the laptop won’t fully open Apps they appear on the bottom of the screen and provide a miniture view when hovered over with the mouse.

When I unplug and go to Display Options I no longer have a selection of how multiple monitors will work, it only allows me to detect (for wireless monitors). As I detach the HDMI cable the desired graphics for the “display option” briefly flashes on the lap top screen and the Apps return to normal.

My goal is to have my laptop and monitor operating independantly - eg. Internet on laptop while Word on monitor.

Any ideas? I don't know why I only have a "detect" option now.

    :)

  2. Ahhzz Win User

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
