Windows 10: Documents folder in This PC is different from Documents folder in C:\user


Among the above two options, what is Microsoft's intended and recommended path for savings one's documents for proper functioning including syncing with OneDrive?

Windows 10: Documents folder in This PC is different from Documents folder in C:\user

From what I've read, Windows 10's This PC evolves from its previous version's My Computer, and keeps its default six folders: Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Documents, Pictures, Videos, the last five of which are, like library folders,
linked to their counterparts in C:\user.

If that's true, I just don't understand why on my computer the contents of those five folders in This PC and C:\user are different. And also,

why the first folder, Desktop, only shows part of my desktop icons on the screen.

Any help will be deeply appreciated. Thanks.

Windows Fax & Scan cannot access Documents folder?

Have been messing with user accounts?
Removing and adding again Windows Fax'n'scan did not help?
It uses some folders like "incoming faxes" etc in My documents. As that program is very old maybe it doesn't "know" were you moved Your My Documents folder.

 

Multiple 'Documents' folders under 'This PC'

This may happen if one the “documents” folder has been stored on different target location.

Follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1

I suggest that you check both the folders location where they are saved using the below method:

• 
  Right-click on any one documents folder and then click Properties.
  
• 
  Click the Location tab, click Restore Default, and then click Apply and OK.
  
• 
  Check what happens, try these step on all the documents folder.
  

Method 2

If the above step fails then try checking the target location of both the folders by using the find target option:

• 
  Right-click on any one documents folder and then click Properties.
  
• 
  Click the Location tab, click Find target.
  
• 
  Check where the target location of both the folders is and check if any one goes to the user name location and later delete the one which goes to wrong location.
