Windows 10 does acknowledge wifi or ethernet

Hello,I seem to be having an issue with my school laptop. I just booted it up the other day as it sat dormant since may. Upon booting it up I discovered that it will not acknowledge any wifi networks or ethernet. I've had it plugged into a verified working ethernet port and it just displays a a red x next to the ethernet symbol. I've tried resetting the network settings back to the original settings. I've tried to update my network drivers but they don't seem to be there or give me the option. When I try to view the network adapters through the network settings page there is nothing in t

    Can't connect wifi or ethernet

So I cant get WiFi or Ethernet to work on either of my two computers with the new Windows 10 Update. I read and try to follow the recommendations (using a work computer) about the steps to take. I love that the final step if the first suggestions didn't
work, is to make sure you've downloaded the correct drivers. Could the engineers be more specific as to how you download drivers when you can't get on the internet.

    Thanks.

Domain network ethernet not working but wifi does?

Hi FreeBooter, I already came across this article and followed the steps with no results, I came across other articles that suggested the same steps but still nothing has worked? Thanks for the reply.

Make Windows 10 connect/disconnect to WiFi based on Ethernet connection status

    Steps:

    1. Go to Control Panel\ All Control Panel Items\ Network and Sharing Center > click on 'Change adapter settings' then use the 'alt button' to show menus and select Advanced Settings...
    2. Under Connections section, select Ethernet, and use the arrows to the right to move Ethernet above WiFi.
    3. Click OK.

Windows will now prefer the Ethernet over the WiFi for connecting to the internet. This should apply for Windows 8, 8.1, and 10.
