Windows 10: Windows 10 does not auto connect to home wifi network after manually disconnecting it

This is my corporate/work laptop that I have limited access to. This problem occurred to me on my previous laptop as well. When I received this newly image laptop I noticed that it would auto connect to wifi with no issue. I use a USB dock at home with a wired connection most of the time. When I undock my expectation is that the laptop will auto connect to my home wifi. This worked fine UNTIL I manually disconnected from my wifi network one day. My SSID is still set to "Connect automatically" but it does not happen after that manual disconnection. I would really like to understand what is causing this and get to the root of how to prevent it. I do sometimes want to manually disconnect from wifi. This is usually because I have reconnected to the dock and I want to force the laptop back over to my wired connection.

I am wondering if this is somehow related to the fact that when logged in with my domain credentials I am running as a restricted user?

Windows 10 Wifi doesn't Auto Connect to Wifi

WiFi doesn't auto-connect upon boot or reboot.

Facts:

HP laptop,

Connect Automatically is checked,

Manually clicking Connect works properly,

My ISP-provided SSID is always top of the list and the strongest signal.

WiFi disconnects from time to time for no apparent reason. When this happens, auto-connect doesn't auto-(re)connect.

 

Disable auto-disconnect on "Action needed" Wifi networks

Some WiFi networks (mostly public hotspots) requires to accept conditions, login or choose tarif. During this time is WiFi without internet connection and WiFi is marked as "Action Needed". If I not complete the action in some time, the WiFi disconnect and
there is no attempt to reconnect. You have to manually click on the Connect button. Is there any way how to disable this auto-disconnect or extend time?
