    Windows 10 does not boot after 23 Nov updates and cannot be reset


    Hi,


    reaching out to help my neighbor. His Windows 10 computer installed updates on 23rd of November. Something must have gone very wrong since when he boots the machine now, it tries to repair Windows, fails, and attempts to reset Windows (with or without leaving data intact) fail just the same.

    The SrtTrail.txt path that was displayed along the error message indicates a drive g: that I didn't find when booting the computer with Win7. I had hoped to find hints in there.


    Checking the ...\Logs\WindowsUpdate folder, I see three log files dated 23rd Nov:
    WindowsUpdate.20191123.112749.775.1

    WindowsUpdate.20191123.110913.913.1

    WindowsUpdate.20191122.211410.048.1


    Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas other than resetting the machine with the Media Creation Tool?

    Windows 10 fails to update


    When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

    Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

    I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
