Windows 10: Windows 10 does not support E8400 CPU

I have a Dell inspiron 530 PC with a upgraded CPU E8400 Core 2Duo 3.0Ghz that runs Windows 7 64Bit perfictly.

I try to upgrade to Windows 10 Pr 64Bit per my Licence and it states this CPU is not supported. Now, I understand that Windows 10 64bit may not run on some CPU's but if Windows 7 64bit runs perfict why will not Windows 10 64bit?

Hi all

I was wondering if there is a list of CPUs supported by Win 10? I am currently running two desktops one with a Dual Core Pentium @ 2ghz and a Core Duo E8400 @ 3 Ghz. They both run Win 8.1 fine but was wondering if 10 will support them. I know min requirements are 1 Ghz CPU but there has also been mention of some CPUs not being supported.

The "Get Windows 10" tool says that The compatibility issue is The CPU isn't supported. It gives no other information. It seems odd considering that the e8400 is absolutely powerful enough to run the OS. I have tried upgrading via USB but the system freezes
at the Windows 10 logo and just hangs. I don't have any DVD's available to burn to to try that way but I don't think it will make a difference. There is obviously a compatibility issue here but I don't know what's going on.
