Windows 10: Windows 10 doesn't fit my brand new hard drive

My brand new but lower cost 2018 laptop had only 30 gig hard drive space and after unboxing I had to update windows 10. Surprise!!! Windows 10 with the upgrade was more that 30 gig...… Now because you can't have operating systems split on two drives and I only had one and lucky this laptop had room to plug in an additional internal hard drive, I was able to buy a SSD hard drive and reinstall my entire operating system (Win 10) to the new drive.

What on earth is going on?

Some will say that's what you get for buying cheap and to them I say next time you see a lunch special and you get food poisoning you can say the same thing. Chances are you will say even if it is cheaper, it should not be unusable.


Some say why didn't I take it back, I say why have they been still selling them for at least a year and the update has been out at least as long?


Even Microsoft help line went in remote and couldn't fix it, I had to get the truck driver next door to fix it

Reinstall Windows 10 to new hard drive

• Right-click Windows Start, then choose Device Manager.
• Expand the Disk drives section and it will show the brand and the model of the hard drive you have.
