Windows 10 doesn't recognize my 10 years old on-board graphics chip

    I've installed Windows 10 Home, April 2018 update - Version: 1803 - OS Build: 17134.285

    My computer configuration is: Athlon 64 X2 5200+ (2600 MHz) - Asus M2A-VM - 4 GB DDR2 667 MHz

This web page contains more details about the motherboard - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M2AVM/

It features an Integrated ATI Radeon X1250-based graphics

I tried Windows XP and Windows 7 on this system and IIRC, Windows 7 recognized the graphics chip by default, there was no need for drivers.

But Windows 10 doesn't recognize it and I got a plain "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" in the Device Manager (Adaptador de pantalla básico de Microsoft in fact, because it's a Spanish edition of Windows 10 Home). With such a driver I got no video acceleration and even worse, I have to use it at a 1280 x 1024 resolution, instead of the normal 1920 x 1080 resolution.

The motherboard manufacturer (Asus) doesn't provide a driver for this operating system

The ATI Radeon X1250-based graphics is quite a basic graphics chip, Windows 7 does recognize it, and then the Windows 10 should do it even better.

Can Microsoft help me with a driver for this graphics chip?

    Thank you

    :)

  2. Windows 10 cannot be installed due to old Graphics chip

When checking the compatibility to run Win 10, the program said the graphics was incompatible, so I bought a new card that is compatible and hooked up the monitor to that one. But the old one was onboard the motherboard and is still recognized by the Windows
10 Compatibility check. I disabled it in the bios, but cannot find a way to physically disable it onboard. It is an Acer MCP73VT-PM motherboard. Is there a way to download and install Win 10 anyway since this graphics chip is not the one being used by the
    pc?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
