Windows 10: Windows 10 downgrade

Hi,

My desktop acer aspire XC703 came with 8.1 upgradable to 10. I upgraded when I got the machine and immediately went back to 8.1.

I recently decided to try 10 again to futureproof my machine by using a Windows 10 disc imageISO. All went according to plan and 10 installed correctly, and once again I hate it ! .

As the roll back back period has long expired, I downloaded a Windows 8.1 ISO and also the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a bootable drive. I cannot seem to reinstate Windows 8.1. I have tried:-

- Running the Windows 8.1 ISO straight from the HDD

- Running the Windows 8.1 ISO from the bootable USB drive

and Doing a factory reset, which just re-installs Windows 10

I'm not a computer whizz so I might be doing something really stupid.

What would happen if I formatted my HDD and ran the Windows 8.1 ISO from the bootable USB at start up as a clean install.

Any help and suggestion would be much appreciated.

I would try these:

• Get your Windows 7 media device and reinstall Windows
• Try auto-repair
• Follow these steps:

1. Put in your Windows 10 media device, boot into the USB
2. Select your language and keyboard input, then click next.
3. Click "Repair this computer"
4. Go to "Advanced options"
5. click system restore
6. Select a restore point before you downgraded to Windows 7.

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
