Windows 10: Windows 10 - English International???

Hey guys,..I'm going to buy a retail W10 (Home) software today on a USB Flash Drive for a new build. The title of the product says Windows 10 English International. Now I'm confused. What does it mean exactly? I don't remember this on the version I bought a couple of years ago. It just said Microsoft Windows 10.

Can I go ahead and still buy it for use here as a normal English W10 version?

In Australia...I had problems on one of my computers (only 6 months old) updating to 1607 so downloaded the TechBench "English" ISO version of 1607 and used this to update to the Anniversary setup..went well except when I restarted was informed that I
had to now install Australia language Pac..Why ??? I noticed in Control Panel/Language I not only had English but also Australia setups with English highlighted !!! Have since fixed this and deleted English..Should I have downloaded the USA version??? My setup
has always been English (Australia) Keyboard US..

 

Windows 10 "English" or "International English" ?

When I downloaded it I got build versions 10586, in November. As a matter of Fact, around Nov 21, someone posted that Media Creation Tool for Windows 10 was updated to 10.0.10586.0 to reflect the version of Windows 10 November Update, but was changed back
to 10.0.10240.16480 matching Windows RTM. However, all my downloads were not build 10.0.10240.16480.

I have a few Media Creator Tools on hand, one is version 10.0.10240.16480, another is 10.0.10586.0, and 10.0.10586.35.

Windows 10 English International version means it is in British English, also known and delivered as Windows 10 EN-GB. Windows 10 English is then the US English version, also known and delivered as EN-US.

Differences are small, for instance while EN-GB lets you change desktop colours in Settings > Personalisation, in EN-US you'll change colors (note the missing u) in Settings > Personalization.

In addition, default region in EN-GB Windows is United Kingdom, default time zone British time, default keyboard layout English United Kingdom, clock is using 24 format and week starts on Monday.

In EN-US Windows default region is USA, time zone US Pacific Time (PST), keyboard layout English US, it uses 12 hour clock and week starts on Sunday.

Also some default formats differ (Celsius vs. Fahrenheit, metric vs. USC) and so on.

Same language with regional differences.

Indeed. If you are a UK user then choose English International. I find this galling since we speak the Queen's english.

 

The language may be the same in terms of words (apart from spelling) but sometimes use of words in US English is like an alien language to us Brits - LOL.

As the legendary phrase says "Two nations divided by a common language" .

And don't forget in the UK they use Lavatories -- I believe in the states these are little hand basins for washing HANDS -- not so stupid really as it tends to agree more with the Latin (lava - wash).

I sincerely hope you use "fag" as it is used in UK English slang, not as it is used in US slang *Wink

 

There is another meaning of "smoke" if one uses it as a verb as well.
