Windows 10: Windows 10 Enterprise Activation Issues

Where to begin?


I have a custom built PC. I noticed after about a day or two of using it an "Active Windows" watermark on the bottom right side of my screen. I purchased a Windows 10 Home OEM key from Kinguin, tried it and it didn't work. Gave me error code. I called Microsoft and told them about it and they asked what OS I was running, Windows 10 Enterprise. That was the issue they said, my key was for Windows 10 home not Enterprise. So I downloaded the installer from Microsoft and booted directly from the USB. I wiped all of ky drives completely and installed Windows 10 home on my SSD.


Once I was back on my desktop I went into activation settings punched in the key and it said it was active and linked to my account. I was elated as this took about 5 hours to complete. Now I was having an issue with my Xbox wireless adapter for PC not working. While troubleshooting that I noticed that under my account is said it wasn't active. I go back to the activation settings and low and beholde the installed OS is back to good ole Windows 10 Enterprise and asking me to activate windows again. Six hours I spent working on this today just to end up right back where I started. Does anyone have any idea how or why this happened? Thank you in advance for all your help. I'm just tired and frustrated with all of this.

Windows 10 Enterprise activation key

I upgraded Window 10 Home to Enterprise to enable Remote Desktop. I cannot find and activation key for the Enterprise version. Suggestions?

Where did you get Windows 10 Enterprise from in the first place?

Windows 10 Enterprise is a volume license client used by large organizations that deploy Windows 10 in bulk to hundreds or thousands of computers.

It uses one of two activation methods (Multiple Activation Key - MAK) or Key Management Server - KMS.

MAK works like a retail key which you enter and can use to activate by Internet or Telephone.

KMS requires connecting a Windows Server domain or VPN into a network to handle activation request.

If you got Windows 10 Enterprise through your employer, you should contact your System Administrator for Assistance.

If you happened to have just downloaded a copy of Windows 10 Enterprise off the Internet and installed, then you need to remove it and downgrade to what your computer is actually entitled for.

• • The copy of Windows 10 you download and upgrade from will correspond with the edition of Windows you have installed, if it does not, this is why you might be experiencing problems activating:

• Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Windows 8.0 Core, Windows 8.1 Core

• Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8.0 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro
  will install Windows 10 Pro

Press Windows key + X

Click Command Prompt (Admin)

Enter the following:

Licensingdiag.exe -report %userprofile%\desktop\report.txt -log %userprofile%\desktop\repfiles.cab

Hit Enter
