Windows 10 Pro with CBB and WSUS - how long will versions receive security updates?

Hi,

I have a question regarding the servicing options for updates and upgrades in Windows 10 when using Current Branch for Business (CBB) with WSUS.

I have read
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt598226(v=vs.85).aspx which states that feature upgrades for CBB are made available approximately 4 months after the feature upgrade has been released to the Current Branch.

It further states that the servicing lifetime of a CBB feature upgrade starts when Microsoft republishes a feature upgrade as CBB and ends when it republishes the second successor feature upgrade as CBB.

Then they write that Microsoft will not produce servicing updates for a feature upgrade after its corresponding CBB reaches the end of its servicing lifetime.

I am actually a little confused what this really means and would appreciate some clarification here. Please have a look at the following image:





Let's say I have installed Windows 10 Pro build 1511 on all computers. 1511 has been initially released as feature upgrade on November 12th 2015. According to the info from the article this means that the 1511 Build is about to be republished as CBB 4 months
later on March 12th 2016.

In addition, let's suggest a fictional new feature upgrade 1611 comes out initially on March 12th 2016 as well with its republished CBB 4 months later on July 12th 2016. 1611 would be the first successor feature CBB upgrade for build 1511.

Then, another fictional feature upgrade build 1811 comes out on September 12th 2016 with its CBB version following 4 months later on January 12th 2017. This would be the second successor CBB feature upgrade for build 1511.

Is it correct that build 1511 is receiving security updates until the CBB build for 1811 comes out and that the computers would have to be upgraded before January 12th 2017 to a more recent build to continue to receive updates? As to my understanding this
is due to the fact that with the availability of CBB for build 1811 the corresponding CBB of 1511 has reached the end of its servicing lifetime (CBB 1811 is the second successor feature upgrade for 1511).

Did I understand this correctly?
