Windows 10: Windows 10 Enterprise with a local Windows 10 VM license

Hello,


I have a 10 Enterprise on my laptop. I can't seem to figure out if the license is per user or per device. I need to run a local Windows 10 VM and need to verify license requirements. As the main user of this laptop, I would be the only one accessing the VM and it would be solely accessed locally.


From reading through several posts and licensing docs it sounds like this use would be covered by the current license. That said, the documentation is not super clear so I would like to be on the safe side.

Windows 10 upgrade license

Hello guys,

I have 1 license of WIndows 8.1 FPP/retail license. I want to upgrade to WIndows 10, but I one thing is unclear to me.
If I upgrade, will WIndows 10 license be retail or it will "turn" into some sort of OEM license?

I ask this because I upgrade my PC, you know, more memory, replace HDD, and I intend to upgrade the MB and CPU to Kaby Lake platform sometime in the future, (and of course sell the replaced hardware)
This thing is not clearly mentioned anywhere.

Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

• Launch the Store from your Start menu.
• Click the user icon next to the search box.
• Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
• Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
• When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”

Windows 10 Release Date Announced

Do you have a source to back that up because it sounds like speculation.


Dunno about anyone else but I've seen nothing on MSDN or TN to suggest single machine license. What purpose would it serve when the OS is free?
Hence why VL and Enterprise are not part of the offer I imagine..... more likely to be done the way Office 365 is imho, a subscription tied to an account......
