Windows 10: Windows 10; Err Code: 800F0922; Can’t print to PDF

I volunteer at a site that recently had an issue printing to PDF from a Windows 10 system. I’m often remote from the site Covid-19 risks so don’t have the specific OS version, but it’s often patched.


A user is trying to print to PDF from MS-Excel and can’t. Error Code 800F0922 is generated.


I found on the net some instructions for removing the feature of print-to-PDF and reinstalling it to reset the drivers. Unfortunately, it doesn’t reinstall now - even with multiple reboots. More recent recommendations off the ‘net suggest a Windows System Restore which sounds like a horrendous suggestion to fix something as relatively minor as this.


I seek advice and wisdom from you folks who know the internals of MS Windows 10 better.

Print to PDF missing in Printer List

Hi William,

We suggest that you disable and re-enable the Print to PDF feature. Here are the steps:

• Click on the Start menu and type in Windows Features.
• Choose Turn Windows features on or off.
• On the next window, find Microsoft Print to PDF and disable it. Click
  OK to save changes.
• Restart your PC.
• Repeat the same steps to re-enable Microsoft Print to PDF.

Thanks for your help. I was browsing the web the other day and I found a page called FINAL DRAFT. They had a set of instructions for reinstalling the Microsoft Print to PDF utility that worked great for me. Problem solved.

• What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
  
• What is the make and model of the printer & PC?
  
• Does this issue specific to a particular PDF file or all PDF file in the USB?
  
• What is the program that you are using to open the PDF file in order to print?
  
• Did you try printing any PDF file that is saved on the PC?
  
• What happens when you try to print, do you get any error message/code?
