Windows 10: Windows 10 erratic curser

My curser has just started to become erratic. I use a Logitech wireless mouse or the touchpad on a Dell laptop. From time to time the curser will have a mind of its own and bounce around the display by itself and flash very quickly. Neither the mouse nor the touchpad will regain control of it and I have to force a shut down of the computer. I'm running Windows 10 with the latest update as of December 2019. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Erratic jiggering or disappearing pointer/curser.

This is a pretty new laptop only a few months old yet it has never been stable. Windows 10 uses Edge and is erratic so I tried Firefox then Chrome. The system throws Chrome out , just tolerates Firefox but keeps trying to get me to use Edge which is not
good. The biggest problem however is the curser/pointer which sometimes is ok and at others goes crazy, jumping about the screen, disappearing and I have to keep switching off because escape and control alt delete often do not work !Also I get screen freezes
at these times. I hate Cortana as she is so intrusive so dont use her and try to avoid using a mouse but the touchscreen is so dodgy. Also often page up/ page down doesn't work.
