Windows 10: Windows 10 Error 0x800700EA: More data is available.

Hi all,

I'm using Windows 10 and whenever I copy any file to a FAT32 hard drive, "Error 0x800700EA: More data is available." appears and copy halts if the filename consists of some Chinese characters.

For example:

Filename: 国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国
Result: No error

Filename: 国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国
Result: Error

Filename: 国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Result: No error

Filename: 国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国国aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Result: Error


Does anyone know what is the problem or how to report this to Microsoft?

Error 0x800700ea when installing cumulative update KB3147458

My system keeps automatically attempting to install update KB3147458 but gets an error 0x800700ea on each attempt. This is the first error the system has gotten since upgrading to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Pro. I have resolved one hardware problem
since the problem first showed up (cloned and replaced a failing hard drive) but that hasn't stopped the error. I've done some research with the error callout, but the solutions I've found don't appear to match the update. Any suggestions where to look or
what to fix OS wise?

Hmm. Either it's put out errors and WCG is limiting the work units available, or the project list may not be set to supply other WU when one runs out. (if the problem lies here and not on your end)

On the options to your left, if you go into Results Status, select the computer from Device Name and then look through results see if either they were returned late, errors or any other kind of issue that would stop the servers supplying WU from that perspective.

If there are no errors then it's maybe down to your project list. So selecting Device Manager from the left menu and then clicking on the profile assigned to that computer and make sure that it's assigned to receive WU for other projects if they run out.

At least those steps will rule out problems from the WCG end.

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
