    Windows 10 Ethernet Won't Work with Comcast Gateway


    I have a two 2009 vintage Dell laptops, both running Windows 10. The configuration is identical in both machines. I have a rented Comcast gateway than is less than 2 weeks old.


    One of the two Dell laptops will not connect the gateway once Windows 10 loads. The other does no problem. I have tried various cable combinations between the 4 router ports and testing various cables. As the laptop boots, the ethernet lights are on identifying a connection, but as Windows 10 loads, the ethernet lights on both the router and laptop turn off. Windows says there is no ethernet connection.


    I then pulled out a 10 year old Netgear router and plugged the laptop into it, then connected the old router to the Comcast gateway, and the connection works with no problems. The problem seems to be between specifically Windows 10 on this specific laptop and the Comcast gateway. Wi-Fi is functioning normally.


    I have tried hard resetting the router and also reinstalling Windows 10 from a USB stick, but the problem persists.

    Hello
    I tried to bridge the Comcast gateway and plug my router into one of the four ports;
    one has the printer ethernet cable, one goes to the pc and 2 are open(I plugged the router into one of the open ones).
    I was able to open the Belkin but was not able to get internet. Comcast network dept. said I did it ok but no internet is not ok. I tried to change the lower rt of the task bar = internet to the same settings as the router with no luck.
    Do you have any ideas?

    Maybe I Install a Windows 7 again, At least, all of my games run smoothly ...Sadness!!
