Windows 10: windows 10 explorer import pictures and videos "date imported + name" missing name part in...

Hello, when I am trying to import my iphone SE with windows import pictures and videos on windows 10 and I chose "date imported + name" I don't see the + name part in the folder name after importing pictures. Why is the name field missing ?

• Does the issue persist only while importing pictures to the system on your phone?
• Are you trying to import pictures to File Explorer or Photos app?

Windows 10 import picture and video using wrong date created

Hello, I have a problem importing photos using windows 10's classic "import pictures and videos" from my galaxy note 8. I went on vacation in late october-mid november 2019 and I took some photos there in south east asia. Another contact had taken some photos and sent it to me via whatsapp.

As can be seen in first picture below, inside the note 8 phone, the date received of the photo is November 5, 2019 @ 3:24 PM. The picture received was at night, I know this because I was physically present in that photo (hence why I have grayed out the photo itself). Using a time zone calculator, the date and time the photo was received to me was Nov 6, 2019 @ 1:24 AM (which is correct as it is late at night). After importing photos to my desktop, I noticed that windows uses the date created of Nov 4, 2019 @ 3:19 PM not the date modified of Nov 5, 2019 @ 3:24 PM (exactly which shown in the phone). Why is windows or samsung doing this ? Why is it using the date created and not date modified (this is supposed to be the correct date)?





In another example, looking at the whatsapp photo named IMG-20191104-WA0049



After importing this photo to my desktop PC, again, this photo was not sent/received in 2017. I also know this because, by looking at the filename it is in 2019 (IMG-20191104-WA0049), so obviously the date of 2017 is wrong. Windows somehow again uses the date created of Thurs April 13, 2017 instead of November 4, 2019 @ 3:16 AM (which is the correct date) Can someone explain to me, is it whatsapp's fault or is it windows 10 fault ? How do I fix this ? Why is windows import using the date created of the picture and not the date modified? Is there any softwares out there that correctly imports pictures using the date modified (exactly as it appears on the phone). Import Pictures and Videos ignoring settings and has conflicting settings

Can someone...anyone, PLEASE help me with this!

I am new to Windows 10, but comparing the Import Pictures and Videos process to the Windows 7 version, it is not acting the same.

When opening the settings in the Import Pictures and Videos settings, I see this:



There are two things to note, that the "rotate pictures on import" option is checked, and the folder name should be the "Date Taken + Name."

In the past this was all there was to the settings, and everything imported to a folder named like "2015-10-18" and photos within the folder followed the naming 001, 002, 003 etc...

Now though, I am presented with an additional step pictured here:



Now this dialog tells me that my photos will be grouped by date AND TIME and that there will be a folder for each group...

My question is:

1. How can I turn this second step off? It causes the photos to import incorrectly and it makes photos appear in folders that aren't dated correctly. For example, I have photos taken on 10/17/2015 in a folder named 10/16/2015 simply because the pictures
weren't taken far apart from the ones the day before, so, they get mixed in with the wrong ones!

2. The photos are not rotating when importing. They did, however, rotate in Windows 7. Is there a hidden setting for this that I am missing?

Please, I really would appreciate any help with this, it is making me crazy trying to figure this out, I can't stand it!
