    Windows 10 Explorer Won't Search for File By File Name Keyword


    Never had this problem in Windows 7 or XP Explorer when searching for by a keyword in a file name of a file in a specific folder, this time on my external USB drive. Please advise.

    How to Search for Keywords in File Names on Windows10

    How do I search for a keyword in a file name? All my file names are in po format and begin with several numbers previous to the actual name. Often I am looking for a picture file for a job who's name I recall, but not their exact PO, and end up having
    to search manually with the scroll bar through a hundred files. Is this something I can change? Is there a way to search for a keyword from the file name, instead of beginning with the first character of the file name? Or is this just not an option for how
    Windows10 was set up? It would help make my life so much easier if it were possible to search keywords through the Cortana search bar, or even more so through the File Explorer search bar.

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
