Windows 10: Windows 10 explorer

Hello, I have Windows 10 installed on my laptop. I also have a 16GB USB memory stick, and a SATA hdd with cable connector for connecting via USB.


When I appempt to write to the stick, I am informed the stick is write only even after removing the write only attribute via DOS. I am able however to copy files from elsewhere and paste them onto the memory stick. After carrying out several paste operations onto the stick and then deleting the items several GB of files, successfully I might add, I attempted to carry out the operation that is posing me real problems:-


I connected my hdd and attempted to explore it. Windows explorer shows the memory stick as still being the only available connected device on my machine other than the two internall hdd's, and this is despite the fact I have removed the stick and connected a SATA hdd to the usb port.


I have shut down my laptop and rebooted, but Windows explorer still only shows details of the memory stick even though it has not been connected to the laptop


Diskmanagement does show the true hdd connected and indicates a 931.35 hdd which I have named "Gift".


Windows explorer only lists drive C: my main drive, drive H: an SSD internal backup drive, other partitions such as Dellsupport J: --- and Image G: with Properties: 12.3GB free space and 82.1MB used space the memory stick!!!


Can you please tell me how the appalling Windows explorer has got even worse and is now making things up? And how can I correct it ??

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Microsoft Internet Explorer renamed to Windows Internet Explorer ?




Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).

 

Windows Explorer Replacement?

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer
