Windows 10 Facing a ton of problems (Possibly image or registry related)???

Hello, my windows 10 home edition is facing problems I've never experienced before.

QUICK BACKSTORY: Some windows update a few weeks ago screwed the PC entirely. It resulted in the "undoing changes to your PC" message in a continuous loop before windows could load, so I was forced to reinstall windows using the media creation tool. The computer works, but it is not 100%. I've spent almost the whole time I've been awake today looking for solutions. This is uncharted territory for me in regards to image, so if any advice you provide you could dumb it down for me Windows 10 Facing a ton of problems (Possibly image or registry related)??? :)

    SITUATION:

-I'm unable to install all windows updates. They all fail.

-Using "sfc/scannow" I get the "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."

-Using the DISM commands like "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth", I get to 5% before getting

    "Error: 582

An illegal character was encountered. For a multi-byte character set this includes a lead byte without a succeeding trail byte. For the Unicode character set this includes the characters 0xFFFF and 0xFFFE.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log"

    -Using Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth, it says

    "Version: 10.0.18362.1

    Image Version: 10.0.18362.356

    No component store corruption detected."

-Something unusual I've never dealt with before and only just realized maybe it's related to this less-than-ideal install is when I go into screensavers, the timer is always at 5 minutes even after changing it to something else. (I go back into screensaver at it's at 5 min again.) Also when interrupting the screensaver when it's running, the screen goes to the log in screen, even though I have that unchecked (and I have no password set on this PC)

-I've done chkdsk C: /f /r several times at it looked like any problem in that area was fixed.

-In Windows Recovery Environment, whether doing startup repair, or more grand such as resetting my pc (removing apps but keeping files), I get stop error 0xc000021a.

-When tried reinstalling from media creation tool again, I get "cannot find the Microsoft Software License"

Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance

    :)

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

  3. registry fix

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the description, I understand that you are facing some issues using Windows 10.

I would like to know some information.

    • What registry fix are you trying to run?

    • What is the exact issue that you are facing?

    • Have you taken a backup of all your data?
I would suggest you to take a backup of all your data before doing any changes in the registry keys. If you do any incorrect changes to the registry you won’t be able to boot the computer.

Disclaimer: This section, method, or task contains steps that tells you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps
carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in

  4. Windows 10 Facing a ton of problems (Possibly image or registry related)???

Ton of problems after upgrading to Windows 10.

I just finished upgrading to Windows 10. In the hopes of a clean install, I had selected the remove everything option. Once I had the desktop screen, I went and installed the HP Support Assistant. I realized my Audio wasn't working properly, so I checked my Control Panel and saw the IDT Audio Codec wasn't installed. I went to the HP website and from the list of drivers for my laptop, downloaded the codec and it worked fine. What I noticed was, my control panel didn't list a lot of stuff that was supposed to be there, like the Mediatek drivers for my WiFi card and stuff. My laptop was however functioning perfectly. I checked the Support Assistant's tab of the installed drivers and it showed a list of drivers already installed (none of them were listed in the control panel). Moreover, it showed this High Definition Audio Function Driver installed, I had never seen that before. I checked my devices and this was there :

Next, I opened up the Explored and there was this new disk partition there which was inaccessible. It also didn't show up in the disk management.

    My questions.

Why are there drivers listed in the support assistant but not in the control panel?

Why is the High Functioning Audio Device there and it's driver installed but not working?

Why does that random partition show up in my computer and is inaccessible?

I would really like everything to be clean and simple, please help me. Thanks.
