Windows 10 File explorer does not keep creation time crtime

    Hello Windows developers,

I have been a macOS user for years and have installed macOS 11 Big Sur on my old MacBook, but I want to switch completely to Windows 10.

I have always used a 1 TB external hard drive exFAT as file system and all the files and folders I created on macOS have modified time mtime and creation time crtime = birth time = btime. I copied these files and folders with the standard file manager Finder on macOS to my 1 TB external hard drive. All timestamps mtime and crtime for files and folders were kept.

Then I connected my 1 TB external hard drive to my Windows 10 current version 20H2 notebook and copied the files and folders to my Windows notebook using Windows 10 File Explorer. Unfortunately creation time crtime was not kept and all my copied files and folders were set to current time. Only modified time mtime was kept.

That's the problem, Windows File Explorer in Windows 10 20H2 does not support this function, keep creation time crtime for local files and folders when copying, just like macOS Finder.

Can you Windows developers add this support in the next Windows 10 version? I only want to use Windows File Explorer because it is a very nice file manager GUI for me and newbies.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Microsoft Internet Explorer renamed to Windows Internet Explorer ?

Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).
