    01-Feb-2021

Good evening, I'm reporting 2 issues

    1 Windows-10 FILE EXPLORER:

This issue occurs whenever a file is being dragged to be copied to another folder within the TREE at left side of screen. While the mouse cursor momentarily HOVERS over the intended folder, that folder will suddenly EXPAND to reveal every other FOLDER in its TREE.

And the EXPANSION occurs at the EXACT moment the file is being DROPPED

Result : The file gets inadvertently dropped into some other folder, because the FOLDER/tree is expanding at exactly the same moment you drop the file.

QUESTION : How does one DISABLE this AUTOMATIC expansion of the TREE when hovering over the intended file while dragging a file to it ?

NOTE: Please.. not to be confused with "automatic expansion of a WINDOW when that window is dragged to the edge", which is unrelated to the above. For anyone interested, this feature can be abled/disabled with "Snap windows - when I snap a window, automatically size it to fill available space"

    Thank you.
    ......................................................................................

2 The 2nd issue is apparent immediately when the START menu is opened.

The user must hover over the SCROLL bar for a short time, before it becomes active and useable.

The "scroll bar" is initially 1mm wide, and the user must "HOVER" over the scroll bar for a couple seconds to "automatically" widen the Scroll Bar to 4mm. Then, the scroll bar becomes useable. It would be GREAT if the scroll bar was ALWAYS 4mm wide and ready to go. Thanks.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. Windows 10 File Explorer navigation pane automatically expands/collapses folder tree

I have recently come to Windows 10 from Windows 7 (and Classic Shell). I am not an IT professional, nor enthusiast, but I know my way around a PC.

When I click on a folder in the file explorer navigation pane tree, it automatically expands the folder in the tree. It also automatically collapses the previous folder I had selected. This drives me nuts, as I am used to deciding for myself when to expand
    and collapse the tree.

    How do I make it:

    - just show the folder contents in the right pane when I select a folder in the tree

    - only expand the folder when I tell it to

    - leave expanded folders expanded when I select a different folder in the tree

(in other words, behave like Windows Explorer)?

PS - I will start throwing things at anyone who mentions the "Expand to current folder" setting, as this is not the answer.

how to display entire tree in windows 10 file explorer folder pane WHEN THERE IS NO NUMBER KEYPAD

    Hi Ali,

The navigation pane in File Explorer may not be set to show all folders and libraries that's why it doesn't show the entire tree when you expand it. It also possible that some files, folder, and drives may also be hidden that's why you're unable to see it
when you expand a specific folder. To address this issue, please follow these steps:

    1. Open File Explorer.
    2. Click View from the Main Menu.
    3. Click Options > Change folder and search options.
    4. Click the View tab, then under Advanced settings list, tick or check the following items:
      • Files and Folders > Hidden files and folders
        • Show hidden files, folders, or drives.
      • Navigation pane
        • Expand to open folder
        • Show all folders
        • Show libraries
    5. Click Apply, then OK.
    6. Close and relaunch the File Explorer and see if the entire folder pane tree will show when you expand it.

If you have additional questions, or if the issue persists after the performing the steps above, please let me know by replying to this thread. This way, I'll get notified and respond back to you as soon as I can.

    Regards.
