Windows 10: Windows 10 -File Viewer- PDF "This file can't be previewed".

I don't know if this is a recent update or what, but I can no longer preview PDFs in Microsoft File Viewer. I tried all the fixes I found online, (settings related), and none of them have worked. When I did make settings changes, it gave me the "green bar of death", that took FOREVER. So I removed the recommended settings changes and reverted them back. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe with no avail. Please help. I use this everyday at work. I have to be able to preview my PDFs. Thank you! Trina

No PDF viewer in File explorer preview pane

Conflicts with the program settings is one of the possible reasons why you are unable to view the PDF preview in the File Explorer Preview Pane. We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps in this

thread, and go to the post that was provided by Michalis_Georgiou
on October 24, 2017 in the 2nd page, and check if you will still encounter the same issue.

Previewing files

To better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following:

• Confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:

1. Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
2. Click OK.

• Were there any recent changes made prior to this issue?
• What is the PDF viewer that you're using?

Meanwhile, if you're using Adobe Acrobat; I'd recommend performing the steps in this
article
to enable thumbnail preview of PDF's in Windows Explorer.

thanks for suggestion. i tried both, but neither worked. even with using Edge as pdf reader, and resetting and restarting, pdf previews in explorer, regardless of which default pdf viewer used, resulted in very small window in preview pane.
