Windows 10: Windows 10 Files locked

Good Evening,

I have a huge problem that I do not under stand on why windows is doing this. There is a set of folders on my hard drive that are locked and I cannot open.

One day i was able to open the PDF files in the folder, the next they have a padlock and they say access denied. None of the permissions have changed in the security settings.

I get Error error 0x80071771. I have scoured the forums trying to figure this out, reinstalled windows clean to no avail


Please help I am at a loss

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows 10 Lock Icon


I am having issues being able to paste files into a folder that has a lock icon on it. I am not the owner of the folder, my boss is. I am using Windows Pro 10 and my boss is using Windows 8.1. I can open files contained within the folder but cannot paste files into the folder. I have opened properties and gone to the security tab and I am listed within the Group or user names list and my permissions are all at allow. Any suggestions?
