Windows 10: windows 10. Fingerprint not showing in settings. Lenovo Flex 5 1570

After routine updating of Windows 10, the fingerprint reader is no longer available. I used Lenovo to reset their Synaptic driver and it laster for a day each time. I did it 3 times. Please advise.

Touchscreen stopped working. Not responding totally to any touch. Lenovo Pen also does not work.



I updated BIOS from Lenovo support.

Reboot with "pin-button" as advised in support.

Reset HID-compliant touch screen drive. The Driver verion now 10.0.17763.1. Searched for updates - shows it is the latest driver.

I also Uninstalled it and installed it again.

I've done BIOS setting operation to set it to default setting as advised in the support.

Windows 10 - upgraded, latest up-to-date.



This Notebook has never been dropped, no physical damage.



Seems nothing helps.

Windows Hello and Fingerprint scanner not working on Lenovo Flex 5

Hi,

I noticed today that my Fingerprint scanner was not working to log into my Lenovo Flex 5-1570. After logging in with my pin, I go to the fingerprint sign in curious if anything was different. When I got there, I saw that Windows Hello was "not available
on this device", which is weird since it was available yesterday?

I have tried deleting the fingerprint scanner driver using device manager, downloaded the driver from Lenovo, reinstalled the driver, and restarted the computer. No change. I found on an old Lenovo support forum to make sure that my BIOS and chipset drivers
were up to date. Dowloaded the latest drivers from Lenovo, installed, and restarted. Again, no change. I called Lenovo support, who told me it was "a Microsoft problem". As far as I can tell it is my synaptics WBDI driver that displays error code 10 - device
cannot be started (shown below).

Anyone have an idea of how to fix this? Thanks!

 

Lenovo Flex 5 1570 touch screen not working

I did but it was a huge effort. I had to go back to the factory restore and stop upgrades by making my network connections metered, turn off driver auto update and then did a manual process. It does look like the Lenovo Companion has the touchscreen drivers
on it now.

It is working great now though. Read through that whole thread on the link because Lenovo support did tell me they would assist with driver issues under warranty. The same guy though told me the touch drivers were part of display drivers which is incorrect
as well so he may be wrong on their support as well.
