Windows 10 Firewall All Ports Open !

I was frankly shocked to find My Windows 10's Firewall having SEVERAL rules applying within the Public profile and allowing all traffic to hit local ports. I am using Public profile.

One Rule was called "Connect" and was allowing ALL.

When All ports are allowed inbound, basically you do not have a firewall. Since every port can be reached.

Here is a screenshot of one of the rules I had in my firewall.

I don't know how those rules got added. I don't have much games on my PC. Just one ( though tried few on Steam ) . No illegal software ( well maybe one piece) and yet my firewall is literally out.

Why Why Why. If someone like me could miss something like that, than every average PC user will.

Seems to me like Microsoft is as insecure as it was before the introduction of the firewall in Windows XP.

How can I check the effective opened ports. So many rules ffs.

    :)

Windows 10 Firewall will not open port

    Hi,

I am trying to open up a port on Windows 10, but doing a port scan test shows that it Timed Out, but when disabling Windows Firewall the port test shows that its Closed instead of Time Out.

I have enabled the application in Windows Firewall as well as went into advanced security and specified a port for UDP and TCP to that application.

I have also opened up the port in my router and pointed it to the IP address of the workstation that needs the port opened.

I have successfully opened ports for other non-Windows applications in the past, I am not sure what I am missing or doing wrong. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

    Thank you in advance.

What makes you think that cortanna would respond to requests on all ports. That particular rule allows cortanna to use the web for searches.

Hi there, ten111. Welcome to Windows TenForums.

As you know, apps and games may change firewall rules. You may want to:

Right click on the Security Center shield icon in the systray > Click "Open" > Click "Firewall and network protection" > Click "Restore firewalls to default".

You may want to try GRC

Snug as a bug in a rug here.
