  1. Windows 10 Firewall not remembering what app i gave permission to

For some reason Firewall is not remembering a video game app that i gave permission to. Sometimes ill try to launch the game and firewall pops up asking permission for Private, And my cursor is constantly buffering and i cant make a selection or doing anything on my pc so i have to restart my pc to get past this issue. Why is Windows 10 Firewall not remembering what app i gave permission to ? I added the app to the "Allow app to communicate through Windows Defender Firewall but for some reason it's forgetting it sometimes, What gives ?

Windows Firewall blocks App Store from downloading new apps

    Hi,

Let's try to check if the app store you're referring to if it's really blocked by Windows Firewall. See these steps:

    • Open Windows Firewall from the taskbar >
      Firewall & network protection
      > Allow an app through firewall.
    • A new window will show up containing the list of the apps that ca be allowed through Firewall.
    • Look for the app you want to be accessed, and make sure that the Domain, Private and Public are ticked. That would allow the app store to be accessed.

Let us know what happens after doing the suggestion.

  3. Windows firewall keeps bringing up randomly the firewall permission windows alert. In other words it doesn't remember that I allowed a program.

    Hello,

We understand that you set the permissions for the apps and allow them in the firewall, but the firewall forgets the permission and asks you every time you run the app for permissions and this behavior is exhibited for many apps. Is that correct? That being
said, we would like to know if you are using a Microsoft account or a Local account?

The issue that you face, could be due to some of the internal Windows 10 related file being missing or corrupted. Hence, to troubleshoot your issue, we would ask you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: Run the Microsoft Safety Scanner.

Refer the below link and run the Safety Scanner and check if that helps:

    https://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: It may be possible that Microsoft Safety Scanner will delete the important files which are corrupted.

    Method 2:

Check if the status of Windows Firewall is set to Automatic. You may try disabling and then Re-enabling it and check for the issue. Follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows Key + R for Run.
    • Type devmgmt.msc and then Enter.
    • Right click on the Windows firewall and then set it to
      Automatic.

    Note:

Make sure you have enabled the Windows Firewall after checking the issue.

Please let us know if the issue is resolved or you need any further assistance.

    Thank you.

    Windows 10 permissions...

How is the NAS on windows 10 Pro? Is it software or a share? Did you check ntfs vs share permissions?
