  1. Windows 10 for home device encryption - dumb question on recovery key

Hello,My dumb questions are: - Is the account recovery key also used for Windows 10 for home device encryption *without bitlocker*? - If not, where do I find the decryption key for that non-bitlocker device? Background:I have a laptop equipped with Windows 10 for home. The device encryption is turned on. It does NOT have bitlocker enabled.I also have 2 other laptops that are bitlocker enabled. The only recovery keys in my account are: - Bitlocker recovery keys associated with the other 2 laptops - I can see these codes assigned to the device names. There is no key assigned to the non-bitlocke

    :)

Does Device Encryption Work on Windows 10 Mobile

Looking at the Bitlocker/Device Encryption Recovery Keys section on OneDrive, it doesn't show any Windows 10 Mobile recovery keys there despite 'Device Encryption' being switched on.

On the actual device itself, it also doesn't show as encrypted under 'Storage', which begs the question, is 'Device Encryption' even on? Other than physically trying to access data on a locked phone, there doesn't appear to be a way to tell if the device storage is actually encrypted or not other than the toggle switch for enabling/disabling Device Encryption being set to on. In which case, if it is on, where are the recovery keys stored for Windows 10 Mobile Devices?

    Device encryption

    Hi,

I had posted a question regarding the message I was getting on every start up regarding my recovery key.

Although that issue is resolved now in the device encryption settings I am getting the message as the encryption is temporarily suspended.

I have a Windows 10 Home Basic version and this does not come with a tpm.msc file in the system.

How to resolve this issue? Is it a very serious matter that the C drive is not being encrypted?

Will be grateful if the query is resolved with steps since I am not that tech savvy.

    Thanks,

    Kala

Device Encryption for Dell windows 10

    Hello mlpilger, *Smile

Device encryption helps protect your data, and it's available on a wide range of Windows devices. If you turn on device encryption, the data on your device can only be accessed by people who've been authorized.

It depends on you if you would like to turn back on Device Encryption or not, but it will help protect your data as mentioned above if needed by you.

How to Turn On or Off Device Encryption in Windows 10

You will only need the BitLocker recovery key if Device Encryption is turned on and you are unable to unlock it at startup as usual.

If you do turn on Device Encryption, be sure to back up the BitLocker recovery key afterwards. I would recommend to at least back up to your Microsoft account if you sign in to Windows 10 with it.
