Windows 10: Windows 10 Freezine due to re-configuring redistributable

Hi all,

After some digging im 90% sure this is not my hardware, tried multiple fixes for my SSD as others had freezing issues, no fix, tried making sure settings are all correct(SSD is set to never turn off after being inactive, same with PCI etc...) along with doing the normal ram checks and running commands in the command line to ensure windows is not corrupted in anyway, everything is coming back all good so im lost on what to do with this.

Essentially, looking at the reliability monitor GameInput Redistributable is re-configuring and causing the system to totally freeze. Sometimes however in the past it manages to do this without freezing the system which is confusing. I removed it and when removed, the system seems to function fine and does not crash at all, however it re-installs itself. I thought disabling my updates may have fixed this however this morning since powering up my pc(Froze as soon as it started up Windows and got to my desktop) I restarted to find the app had re-installed itself... and caused the crash yet again.



Does anyone know what this is linked too? I have seen other threads mention this is apart of the MS Gaming Services (Which I need I presume to play Halo MCC and download MS stuff from the store?) which cannot be un-installed as its a core app and feature in windows 10. I really need a way of telling windows not to install this and to keep it un-installed as like I say disabling the updates last night from windows hasn't done anything as this redistributable I guess is automatically installing from the store itself maybe or another location?



Really want to try fix this as everything I have tried so far has failed, this is a new expensive PC build I just recently got too which I had purchased an new Windows key for and so far the experience has been terrible. Just been wanting to chill out and get back to my hobbies I used to do instead of having to play around with the system for most of my time on it.



I appreciate any help on this, any other info people need just ask.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

"Side-by-side configuration is incorrect"

Good morning. Here are a couple of things to try:


1. Download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package:

Access Denied



2. Run System file checker.

• Press Windows key + X, select Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.
• In Command prompt type sfc/scannow and press enter.
• Restart the computer.

If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state, then I suggest you to try the following steps:

• Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.
• In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

• Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.

You could also try running chkdsk /f /r c: (or whichever drive letter you want to check). You'll probably have to boot up using the "advanced options" and select "command prompt."
