Here are the fixes that work most for Windows 10 Freezing. If any steps cannot be performed normally then try them in 1 Safe Mode with Networking so you have internet or 2 Safe Mode, accessed by one of the illustrated steps in this guide: https://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-boot-safe-mode-windows-10. You will need to use your password to get into Safe Mode as a PIN is not accepted. If Safe Mode and Windows won't run or is not stable enough, do repairs from the WinRE Repair Mode or bootable media as well as the other numbered steps I give in this tutorial: https://answers.microsof

    2) Go over Windows using this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...ntegrity/75529fd4-fac7-4653-893a-dd8cd4b4db00

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account to replace yours which may be corrupted. Then if necessary continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

    3) If none of those help then test the hardware following these steps: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...sts-2023/121921ee-59d9-43af-b7af-6b0fd92567a3

  3. Windows 10 fully updated. Mouse freezes now and then.

If you have to reinstall an OS, I'd try clean Windows 10. It should fix it.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Windows 8.1 will only get mainstream support for another six months (January 9, 2018) and will not get any updates after January 10, 2023.

My guess is you have some other software running from Windows 8.1 which is continuing to run in Windows 10 that is having unintended consequences. This problem you're describing is not something that's a known issue with Windows 10.

    Windows 10 freezes randomly

I had already tried turning off fast startup, to no avail.
Will look at the list you provided, thanks. Hard to do when computer freezes on the Windows loading screen though. *Biggrin
I had tried that as well... no result.
