  1. Windows 10 generates distorted surround sound on the SUBWOOFER channel

Windows 10 generates distorted surround sound at the SUBWOOFER output. In the Sound settings -> Speakers -> Properties -> Levels -> Balance -> "Sub" I have to set the level to 0 while the other channels L R C LS RS have a max value, i.e. 100 to get rid of distortions on the SUB channel, why? Setting the level to 100 to "Sub" generates huge distortion on this channel. What is the purpose of increasing the signal level on the SUB channel?Related issue with the "Balance" option: reducing the sound volume to zero sets zero balances on all channels, i.e. L R C SUB LS RS and this is

Related issue with the "Balance" option: reducing the sound volume to zero sets zero balances on all channels, i.e. L R C SUB LS RS and this is OK. However, increasing the volume from zero towards 100 causes the RESET of the balance settings, why? After all, I set the balance on each channel separately and I want it to be active always! What is the purpose of resetting the balance on all channels when the volume is reduced to zero?

sound distorted after windows 10 anniversary upgrade

This is where I'm at on my HP laptop with Windows 10 and the Anniversary update.

I completed step #3 "hardware and sound" but that took me to an option for "sound, speakers." There was no "properties" as step #4 suggests. I selected "sound, speakers" and then found "properties." After selecting "properties" there was no "enhancements
    tab" as step #5 suggests.

Regardless, I then uninstalled the realtek audio driver. I noticed that when I did this without restarting my laptop that the sound was now tinny, but not distorted as it was previously. After restarting, the sound was again full, yet distorted.

Realtek still shows in my programs list, though it shows no memory is used.

    Thanks for your continued help.

Windows will not play music through my subwoofer.

Have you tried to turn off Sound Enhancements in Sound settings:

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/enable-or-disable... ?

Did the subwoofer work in Linux?

Did it work before in Windows? Do you have a System Restore point that goes back before that time when it worked you could try? How to Use System Restore in Windows 11

Here are some fixes specifically for sub-woofer not working in Windows 11:

Anyway there are a lot of steps to catch up with, so I'll check back tomorrow on your progress.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back, I will have other suggestions if necessary.
