Windows 10 glitch is blocking users from installing May 2019 Update

Microsoft recently revealed that the outdated Intel RST driver causes system reliability problems on Windows 10 May 2019 Update. To prevent further problems, Microsoft has opted to block the May 2019 Update to such PCs.

If you’re running outdated versions of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology drier, you won’t be able to install the May 2019 Update, according to Microsoft. If you attempt to install Windows 10 May 2019 Update with Update Assistant Tool, you’ll receive the following message:

    • The inbox storage driver iastora.sys doesn’t work on these systems and causes stability problems on Windows

Microsoft says the upgrade block is lifted when updated Intel RST driver is running, but users are reporting that they are still unable to install Windows 10 May 2019 Update.

Even if you installed an updated driver, there’s a chance that you still won’t be able to upgrade to Windows 10 version 1903. According to various reports (1, 2, 3,) – the above error notification won’t go away and the upgrade installation refuses to proceed.

“I’ve literally been trying to fix this for hours. I’ve updated the version numerous times, uninstalled everything numerous times, yet every time I try to update, I get the same error over and over again,” a user documented the problem on Reddit.

“Same issue as well. I’ve tried the recommended version, the latest and uninstalled. Continue to get the same Upgrade error about RST compatibility,” another user noted.

@MicrosoftHelps I am trying to update to Win 10 1903 from 1803 but I get an error message saying I need an updated version of Intel RST but I already have the latest version installed, and verified on Intel’s website. Advice?

Our readers have also stumbled upon this bogus error message:

On Microsoft’s answer forum too, users are reporting about the error message.

It’s not clear why the upgrade is still being blocked, but it could be possible that Update Assistant Tool is unable to detect the new driver.

A solution is yet to be found, but if you really want the May 2019 Update, you can manually install it with Media Creation Tool only after double-checking the driver version.

  3. New install Windows 10 (issue solved)

It's good that you're not experiencing any issues. Unfortunately many folks are, a quick Google search will show the same info im offering the OP.

    Heres a couple examples:

    Here

    Here

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

Comodo Software users Windows 10 *Important*

Windows 10 glitch is blocking users from installing May 2019 Update capture-jpg.jpg

    "Hi All,
We stronly advise Comodo users not to update to latest MS update KB4022716, which is available for Windows 10 users till they have new fixed version of Comodo internet security products installed.

    Affected Products:
    - Comodo Internet Security / Comodo Antivirus / Comodo Firewall (Affected versions: v6246 and below)
    - Comodo Cloud Antivirus (Affected versions: v533 and below)
    - Internet Security Essentials (Affected versions: v81 and below)
    - Comodo Secure Shopping (Affected versions: v97 and below)

    Possible Problems:
In case you have updated to MS update KB4022716 prior to updating to latest fixed version of Comodo products, following issues may appear:

    - Crashing browsers
    - May not be able to login to Windows

    Resolution:
If you are able to login, you can uninstall Comodo and re-install latest fixed Comodo version. Else you need to go to Windows Safe Mode and uninstall Comodo product or re-store system to state before Comodo product was installed.

In case you want to keep Comodo and pause Windows updates for some time, you may use following steps:
Step - 1: Click on Start icon on Windows
Step - 2: Next click on Settings menu item, it will open "Windows Settings" window
Step - 3: Select "Update & Security" section from there and it will show "Windows Update" section
Step - 4: Click on "Advanced Options" next, there is "Pause Updates" section allowing you to pause Windows updates for next several days

You can find same steps with images here .

    Reason:
There are unexpected changes in last MS update KB4022716, which are incompatible with Comodo products.
