Windows 10: Windows 10 hangs after login - no Windows folder?

On firend's 3-y old laptop happened today something I saw for the first time:

There is set autologin and after boot and this autologin desktop shows as usual and I have only few seconds to do something - open menu or settings, get titles of icons in tray but then it stops responding - only mouse moves over screen. No keyboard shortcuts can be made. Loading icon on cursor shows after while.

Nothing more can be made, only hard power-press shutdown.
Each boot is the same.
I made diagnostic in bios and it didn't find anything wrong.
Now I'm backuping laptop disk (booted from another boot media) and it progress so far.
Don't know what to do next. Thanks for help

There is only one 1TB disk with 2 parts: MS reserved and MS basic data - boots at UEFI
I mounted data partition and there is no Windows dir. How can it boot (and then hang)? There are only:
Program Files
Users
$RECYCLE.BIN

:)

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

 

Windows Update suddenly hangs?

Windows Update is suddenly hanging for some reason... I went and downloaded and installed the first bunch of updates, restarted when asked, and now when I go back to windows update I just get the window with a white box forever. Reboot and it still does it. This happens to be on my main machine, running windows 7.

I've also noticed when I reboot it says configuring windows update, step 3 of 3, 47%. Maybe it somehow skipped something and is screwed forever?
