    Bug in windows shutdown / hibernate

    Hi

    I noticed that at least scince Win 8.0 there is a bug in windows shutdown procedure.

    I configured my laptop that it goes to prolonged hibernation if i push the power button AND if i close the screen. If i do both (putton and closing, which i usually do) it starts hibernation and then restarts / continues running.

    If i configure it to hibernate on power button and to sleep on lid everything works fine.

    The exact same thing happens on the laptop of my daugter (Both toshiba).

    Its not a major Problem, but i'd like to know if there is a bugfix / woraround, or if there is a update in sight, that fixes the problen.

    Hi Yusak,

    We would like to isolate this issue that you're having right now. Will you be able to provide the exact error message that you recieved?

    We suggest that you try to enable hibernation on your device using the Command Prompt.

    To make hibernation available, follow these steps:

    • Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
    • In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator.
    • When you are prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.
    • At the command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate on, and then press Enter.
    • Type exit, and then press Enter to close the Command Prompt window.

    Missing hibernate option in settings

    Windows 10 laptop is missing the hibernate option, and hibernate is not listed in the shutdown settings.

    I was looking for the hibernate option because my laptop regularly crashes when I close the lid, and I was assuming this is why. I have been unable to find any solutions on the internet as all the results were how to enable hibernate in settings, but I don't
    have that option. Any suggestions?
