Windows 10 HDD Seen as Raid

Upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10 (retail version) has been a complete nightmare. Install originally worked but pc then ‘froze’ after 10 minutes. I tried everything and could’nt fix it then turned on one day and all fine. I now realise though that my two 500gb HDDs are not accessible (the os is on an SSD). The Bios shows them both and enabled but they dont appear in file manager or Device Manager. Under Disk Manager 1 disk shows up with a red error mark but i think this has combined both discs as if they are raid 0 - but they were never set up as raid in Win 7 and raid is not set up in the Bios. So far Win 10 has been an expensive disaster and pc rendered pretty much useless - any thoughts? Thank you.

    :)

    Windows 10 Home Raid "UNACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE"

    Dear All,

I have an SSD, where Windows 10 Home is installed. Additionally further 2 HDDs are available in the computer (2x1TB), each on SATA III. I want to use the 2 HDDs in RAID1, but Windows 10 Home does not support the software RAID, therefore I tried to use the
RAID controller of Motherboard. RAID arrays are setup, BIOS had been switched to RAID, but system doesn't boot: "UNACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE"

Can somebody help me, how to fix it?

I have already tried to update the drivers and to locate the disk on different SATA:

    • System on SATA Port0
    • RAID1 HDDs on SATA Port6-7
    Without success.

Any ideas are welcome, how to make it run.

    Thanks,

    Robert

After upgrading to Windows 10 - 2nd and 3rd HDDs cannot be seen??????

    Hi,

What is the make and model of your computer?

I suggest you to check in BIOS setting whether both the HDD are listed there. You may get in touch with your computer manufacturer or refer to the user manual on how to enter BIOS settings.

If it is listed in BIOS, you may check whether you are able to see both the HDD in Disk Management. Follow the steps to check:

    Press Windows Key + X.

    Click on Disk Management.

Please reply us with the required information to assist you further.

    Need specifics on RAID 10

step 1) purchase a raid card that does raid 10 and has 4x mini sas. you will want at least 1024 ram on that chip.
step 2) purchase 16 2 TB enterprise class constellation drives
step 3) purchase another whole rig to do the same thing
step 4) setup rsync to copy all of the changed data from server 1 to server 2
step 5) buy 2 800 watt BBU (1 for each)

    there.
