Windows 10: Windows 10 help creating new bootfiles

Windows 10 crashed and I was unable to boot Windows 10 Home from my 240GB Sandisk SSD hard drive.


After using Testdisk software I was able to recover the partition Windows 10 OS was on from 'unallocated' to 'NTFS' and booting from another drive that had Windows 7 I am able to see the contents of my SSD Windows 10 Drive is all there and intact.


My issue is that the SSD won't boot Windows 10 even thought is there and I think the boot partition or boot information is missing?


I have tried the Windows 10 usb stick and the 'recovery and repair' but it did not work.


I have also using Windows boot USB Stick - tried the following command lines commands:


bootrec /RebuildBcd - 'successful'

bootrec /fixMbr - 'successful'

bootrec /fixboot - 'Access is denied'


It failed on the last one so I am stuck as to what to do?






Disk 0: SSD Drive with Windows 10 (fails to boot)

Disk 1: Is a new back up hard drive.

Disk 2: Has a copy of Windows 7 OS on that I am booting from.


I am so close to not having to reinstall a fresh Windows 10 as I can see all by files it just won't boot!

Help, cant create windows image

It seems like some sort of an OS confusion has happened with your secondary WD Black and I'm sorry to hear about that. *Frown
Maybe re-formatting it would help indeed as the community already mentioned. I'd suggest to take a look at this step-by-step how to partition and format an HDD: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=PYCoid
Keep in mind that this will wipe clean the drive, so you should backup all important data from the drive somewhere else.
I noticed from the screenshots that your HDD appears as Disk 0, this means that it's plugged in the primary SATA port where the SSD (as an OS drive) should be. Actually it is possible that because of this Windows cannot create the image there. Swap the ports of the SSD and the HDD, this might help as well.

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
