Windows 10: Windows 10 Hidden Shutdown

Hello, I am unsure if this is the sub for OS issues, but I am hoping I can get some help.

I am having an issue with a Windows desktop that recently switched to lacking the option to shutdown the PC. The applied GPO shows no change to the relevant policy, and there is no new registry entry to prevent access to the shutdown function. The only account on the PC is a local administrator. The power options show no way to re enable this access, (but they do show battery based settings?) and I cannot find any other way that this option could've been disabled. The primary user has no idea how this happened, nor exactly when it started.

The same PC also changed it's login screen to ask for the username now? I'm not sure these are connected, but they started at the same time.

I would appreciate any help solving these problems.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

All hidden files turned Un-hidden

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being part of Windows 10.

I suggest you to re-add them to the hidden items list and check.

Steps:

• Right click on the folders to hide, select Properties.
• Go to General tab, under Attributes check mark the option
  Hidden.
• Click on Apply and on Ok.

I suggest you not to use any third party anti-virus software. Try to use Windows Defender.
