    Windows 10 high CPU usage & 100% Disc usage


    I got a brand new laptop. I haven't downloaded anything on it yet because I plan on adding a SSD & another 4gigs of ram for a total of 8. Well, I've done all the updates & such to get it to the latest version of windows 10 home. It seemed to be running fine ,just browsing the internet and one day it didn't want to respond. I opened task manager and my CPU was ramping up & disc space was at 100%. At first, the disc usage would ramp up to 100% then settle down to 0-5%, a little while later just idling it would jump back to100%. Now it seems that after it starts it still pegs at 100% for a little while (5-10 min.) then it drops back to 0-1% and doesn't ramp back up.

    I've read several possible causes & fixes for this but I'm not sure weather it would apply to my situation. Here is my pc type, build number, and anything else I can think of that may help whoever help me.

    Acer Aspire E5-575-33BM, Windows 10 Home x64, Version 1803 OS Build 17134.285

    Thanks to anyone that can help me figure this out. I want to have it solved before I install my SSD & migrate my OS.

    In the Task Manager, under Performance tab, the disk utilization reaches to 100% due to which system became lagging and unresponsive. It started freezing in few moments and this keeps happening until disk usage reduces from 100%.

    Control panel > Power Options > Edit Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > Processor Power Management > Maximum Processor state.

    Also, once I start Chrome 64, it uses lots of cpu and ram to do absolutely nothing.

    high cpu usage

    After downloading windows 10, anytime I run any programs, I get high CPU usage. It does not matter whether it is google chrome, task manager, playing games, whatever. Anything seems to spike the CPU usage. I have already run malwarbytes and my antivirus
    programs and find no viruses. Any suggestions? Thanks.
