Windows 10 Home activation after hardware change + updating from 1809->1909

I installed a bunch of new hardware, including a Motherboard (But no new hard-drives), and was then prompted to re-activate Windows 10 Home after that was done. There was also a watermark in the bottom right of my screen, prompting me to activate. I decided to install drivers and run Windows Update before doing that.
It was apparently a major update; taking some 40 minutes to finish. Later I saw I was brought from version 1809 to version 1909, and at this point the watermark has disappeared. But upon trying to activate windows I am now greeted with this message under Activation in Settings: We can't activate Windows on this device because the previous version of Windows was not activated prior to upgrading to Windows 10. Go to store to buy genuine Windows. Error code: 0x803F7001

This part: Windows was not activated prior to upgrading to Windows 10. This doesn't sound right to me, as I've had Windows 10 for years.
Note: I originally bought Windows 7 Home, and got the free upgrade to Windows 10 Home which I have been using since. Some buggy stuff going on?
As for hardware changes; I've probably done 3 total hardware changes, before this last one, since I got Windows 10. Is there a limit to the changes?

On my Microsoft account page I can't see any errors that indicate a lack of license, and My Device there is updated with the new computer name that I gave after the update.

Could all these issues have happened because I chose to update before I activated windows? By how I interpret the wording on the Activation windows that does seem to be the case. Can I somehow roll back to version 1809 and go from there?
If that won't work, what are my options at this point? From what I have gathered, it sounds as though I actually have to buy another Windows 10 license?

  2. Windows 10 update 1909

    Hey,

I've just clean installed windows 10. It is build 1803.

Today awesome 1909 have launched. I want to update to 1909 but in settings it is showing me option to upgrade to 1809. My friend told me I have to upgrade to 1809, then 1903 and then finally 1909.

I want to directly upgrade to 1909 without going through intermediate steps. How can I do this?

    Windows 10 update 1909

    Hi Sarthak

No you do not need to update to 1809 - 1903 if you are currently on version 1803, then version 1909 will appear in the list of updates and will automatically be installed on your PC since 1803 has run out of support

You do not need to do anything, 1909 is currently spreading around the world, just give it time to appear in the list of pending updates . . .

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary device not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.
