Windows 10: Windows 10 Home Disabled Administrator

Hi Folks,

Well this user has put themselves in a sticky spot. New install of Windows 10 home,
initially signed in through a MS account (admin user), decided to convert it to a local user
and subsequently removed all admin privileges..

I've done some research on how to restore/create a new admin account, however the home
edition of 10 doesn't allow that capability. UAC is enabled and won't allow us to open to
run any apps which makes changes to the PC.

Kudos to anyone who can provide a solution on this one.

Thank you for your reply regarding the group policy setup availability in Windows 10 home. I also enabled the hidden administrator account using the
net user administrator /active:yes and tried to install the SQL 2012 but with same result. As per checking of privilege for both administrator account ( user created and default) using the whoami /priv, result shows
the following required privileges:

Privilege Name Description State

=============================== =========================================

SeSecurityPrivilege Manage auditing and security log Disabled

SeBackupPrivilege Back up files and directories Disabled

SeDebugPrivilege Debug programs Disabled

Is their any way to edit the administrator privileges without using the group policy editor in windows 10 home?

netplwiz is frozen in Windows 10

Who set up the PC? Is it a factory install which came with both Administrator and Home User accounts? If the only account showing up in Account Settings (check under My Info and Family and other Accounts) is Home User then it may merely have unhidden the
built-in Admin account which is normally hidden. To check this use the hide command in:

Enable or Disable Elevated Administrator account in Windows 10

If this doesn't remove the Admin account then scour again all the Accounts setting pages to see if you see its listing.

In order to get netplwiz to work to hide the Log-in screen, it may require elevating the Home User account to Admin level.

You may be able to use OPTION FOUR in the tutorial below to enable the built-in Administrator account at boot.
