Windows 10: Windows 10 Home SL activated but I have never installed it before!

Well, this is odd. I was doing an experiment seeing if I could upgrade a 10 Home SL to PRO keeping all programs etc. Of course, this is possible with Home.

So I clean installed Home SL in a VM with a PRO digital licence fully expecting it to be unactivated as I have never installed an SL version ever on any pc or vm before, and I do not even possess an SL licence. Laptop has an embedded 8.1 core licence.

So my flabber was gasted when it activated automatically.

I cannot think of a single reason why this should have activated!

Install of Windows 10 Home on the Windows 10 Home Single language

It wont activate, and never will be as you are entitleted for Windows 8.1/10 Home SL and you have installed Windows 10 Home. Your licence is not for Windows 10 Home but for Windows 10 Home SL. I also did the same mistake on my laptop having Windows 10 Home
SL Build 10240 and upgrade it to Windows 10 Home and it wont activate for 3-4 days. So later I found the reason and download the Win10 SL version from techbench and it get activated within 8-10 Seconds. Your only option is to download the ISO either from Microsoft
techbench or official sites of Windows 10 Home SL of x86 or x64, as per your system Architecture and make it bootable to either Clean Install or Upgrade.

Don't use the Media Creation tools for downloading Windows 10 Home SL as it provide option only for Windows 10 Home and Pro. Use the below link to download Windows 10 SL, I also downloaded from here.

i have downloaded the media creation tool and installed windows 10 SL and now it will not activate, it says the device has no digital license, should i have downloaded windows 10 instead of windows 10 SL as it was windows 10 home that was installed and activated
in the first place.

Yup, makes sense having a Pro licence and downgrading for free... (I doubt anybody will purchase a Pro licence then again pay for the priviledge of using a lesser-feature edition)

BTW: Regarding SL...

I note there is an upgrade path to Professional SingleLanguage

AFAIK, there is no Pro SL version or licence. I think DISM info is just erroneous.

Re. SL activation, it just seems to be a glitch based on above MDSN link .
