Windows 10: Windows 10 Home - Touchpad Issue

Hello!


While I was dragging files on the desktop, I bumped in an unpleasant issue regarding touchpad. When you place one finger on the left to select a file and keep it pressed, you can't place another finger near it to start dragging a file around. It simply won't work. There is a kind of a "Dead Zone" for second finger near the first and it is pretty big:





So if you try to place a second finger to start dragging a file in this area - it won't work:





To succeed you need to place your second finger in the "Green Zone", then you'll be able to start dragging a file around:





According to Device Manager, I have a regular Microsoft driver:


Name: msmouse.inf

Driver supplier: Microsoft

Developed: 21.06.2006

Version: 10.0.18362.1


So what can cause this problem?

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it fixes the issue.

Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

• Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall the driver

I suggest you to try uninstall the Touchpad drivers check if it works for you.

Follow the steps to uninstall the Touchpad drivers:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Right-click on the Touchpad device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset and touchpad drivers.

Method 3

If issue still persists, I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad drivers in Compatibility mode and check if it works:

Follow the steps to uninstall the touchpad driver:

• Press Windows Key + X key.
• Click on Device Manager.
• Right-click on the Touchpad device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Now download the drivers the manufacturer website and install it in Windows 8.1 compatibility mode. Follow the steps provided below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:

• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
• Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows 8.1 operating system from the drop down.
• Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

Lenovo 2 11 w/Windows 10 touchpad issue

This issue may occur due to corrupted or incompatible drivers, missing updates, incorrect device settings or hardware problems.

Method 1:

Let's first run hardware and troubleshooter and check.

• Open Control Panel.
• Type “Troubleshooting “in the search box and hit
  enter.
• Click on Hardware and sound.
• Click on Hardware and device and follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2:

If the issue is not resolved, I would suggest you to un-install and re-install touchpad driver from the manufacturer website and check if it helps.

Step 1: Un-install the drivers:

Follow these steps:

• Click on Start icon.
• Select Device Manager.
• Right click on the
  touchpad drivers and select “Uninstall”.
• Restart the computer once it is uninstalled.

Step 2:

I would suggest you to install latest touchpad driver from the manufacturer website and check if it helps.

I would suggest the following steps :

• Press Windows + X
• Click on Device Manager
• Right click on TouchPad drivers in the list.
• Choose Upgrade Drivers
• Reboot computer

Check if this helped to fix the issue.
