    Windows 10 Home upgraded to Pro (via the Windows Store) now shows as Windows 10 Enterprise...


    On a new Surface Laptop 2, I purchased an upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro using the Windows Store App. When I check the Settings App under > System > About, it now shows I now have Windows 10 Enterprise (1903) installed and shows that it's not activated. In the area to "change product key or upgrade your edition of Windows" it shows an activation error:


    We can't activate Windows on this device because you don't have a valid digital license or product key. If you think you do have a valid license or key, select Troubleshoot below. Error code: 0x803F7001


    When I click the troubleshoot option I get the same error message as above.


    I checked my emailed receipt from the Microsoft Store and it shows I purchased Windows 10 Pro. I've tried checking for updates and restarting a few times, but I don't seem have received the correct download from the MS Store. What can be done to fix this?

    windows 10 worth the upgrade?

    People who don't need Edge, Store, and all those bloated W10 apps can get Windows 10 Enterprise ltsb. Ltsb is a "clean" Windows 10 edition plus you have all Enterprise functionality. Because it's stripped from all that bloatware it installs and boots faster than Pro version. Unfortunately ltsb is more expensive

    Microsoft: Windows 10 Home costs $119, Pro costs $199



    Which is good news actually, because Windows 8.1 is loads cheaper than previous versions (retail licensing at Windows 7 OEM prices). And it sort of puts a huge hole in the Windows subscription theory.
