Windows 10 Home Version 2004 broke my system.

    Hello,

After Windows 2004 was installed, my system locks up randomly. There is no high CPU usage in Task Manager, etc that it might be a specific program. The game I play, the FPS went from 60 fps to below 30 and lower as I move around.

There were no options to restore a previous version, nor uninstall the updates. I then decided to format and install a clean version of Windows 2004. If I install an earlier version, it wants to Windows Update to 2004.

The Feature Update, version 20H2 makes the lock ups, slow downs, etc. even worse. I have not installed this update, and things are "more usable" with 20H2.

    Any ideas ?

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Windows 10 Home Version 2004 broke my system.

Group Policy Settings Reference Spreadsheet Windows 10 version 2004

To add to OilerNut's post, in Group Policy Settings Reference Spreadsheet Windows 10 version 2004 - TenForums the GPA setting Always use custom logon background is listed [row 2520] as being in the Registry at
    HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System!UseOEMBackground
    so perhaps
    - that linked procedure still works, or
    - there is a way of setting this item up manually.

I do not use Pro so this is no more than a suggestion.
