  2. Windows 10 Home Remote Desktop/ Terminal Services

    Hello,

Can you confirm that Windows 10 Home edition cannot use Remote Desktop as a way of remotely accessing a Windows 10 Home because it does not come with a
Terminal Service License? In my experience with Windows 10 Home after an update pushed out in April of 2017, it appears that you need to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro to acquire a Terminal Service license. Is that
    true?

If so, how many Terminal Service licenses does Windows 10 Pro allow for vs a server?

    Thank you,

Cannot connect remote to desktop with windows 10 home

Sorry, that's not going to work. You can only use Windows 10 Home to connect to a Windows 10 Pro computer, as Windows 10 Home doesn't accept incoming remote connections. Hope this helps.

Windows 10 home vs windows 1o pro remote connection

Hi Sonja, welcome to the Ten Forums.

You can use the Home edition as a remote client, to remotely connect to a remote host which must be Pro, Education or Enterprise edition.

In other words: the computer FROM which you connect to other computers using the remote desktop connection can have any edition, including Home, but the computer you connect TO must have Pro or better.

I would be using a Windows 10 laptop to remote into Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.

Windows Server editions have the remote host feature, they can be connected to from any edition of Windows using remote desktop connection. You are good to go.
