    Windows 10 hotspot - 20/40/80/160MHz channel widths

    Hello,

I bought a NIC the other day to provide 5GHz hotspot for some of my devices. It works great, but I'd like to make full use of my Nics channel widths.

The WiFi nic can support upto 160MHz Channel widths, and most wireless devices support upto 80MHz channel widths, however the Windows 10 hotspot seems to be limited to enabling 20MHz channel widths only.

Is there a registry edit I can make to set a different channel width for hotspots? Otherwise this is just a feature request. I can share the full 160MHz just fine if I pass the NIC to a Linux VM and share it that way, but I'd like to run it natively off my Windows VM.

    :)

Any way to control WiFi hotspot channel, modes, transmit power, with Windows 10 Hotspot?

Is there any way to control the 802.11 b/g/n channel on which you bring up a WiFi mobile hotspot, and possibly other optional modes that the WiFi device supports? My AR9462 device supports .11g or 11n modes, including 20 or 40 MHz channels in access point
mode. At least channel number seems like it is important to be able to control when bringing up an access point. Is there a way to provide these configuration parameters when enabling a Hotspot?

I have a 'nominally' working hotspot... initially it came up on one channel. After "fiddling" with some 'Advanced' adapter properties, and then setting them back to their original settings, I saw the hotspot change and come up on a different channel. But
I haven't found any way to change it from the second channel.

    Windows 10 hotspot - 20/40/80/160MHz channel widths

How can I make Windows10 not connect automatically to every open hotspot it can see?

To turn off windows automatically connecting to open hotspots follow these steps:

1-Click on start and click on settings ( or use the shortcut " Windows key + I " )

    2-Click on network & Internet

    3-Click on Wi-fi

4-Under Wi-Fi Sense, turn off the “Connect to suggested hotspots” option to disable the feature.
