Windows 10: Windows 10 How to unlink [redacted] account from Local User?

I have the exact same problem but with a random person instead of family members... And the thread's locked, sooo...


Anyone with a solution? Greatly appreciated. I don't have any backups and I'd rather not transfer files to another user then remove the main account as the loss over gain is too much. Also, what's up with Microsoft? This is a YEARS-long problem with no real solution! Instead of implementing new things so fast, perhaps they should focus on what they already have and fix it. I might consider an OS change at this point.

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown

Microsoft account and local account are two different things.

I would suggest you to create another local account and check.

• Press windows key + X key and select Control panel.
• In Control panel select User Account.
• In user Account Click on Manage another account.
• Click on Add a new user in PC settings.
• Click Add someone else to this PC.
• Click on The person I want add doesn't have an email address.

Thanks for the prompt reply. It's definitely a Microsoft account. Here is the photo showing the no option to change back to a local account.
