Windows 10: Windows 10 HP Laptop is missing the network driver

Recently, my little sister's laptop has been having issues connecting to the internet, and after troubleshooting a little bit, the computer gave me back "we could not find a driver for your network adapter". All of the guides I have looked at online show that you need to delete a certain special adapter file in this network adapter section shown below, but that file wasn't even there to begin with.
Now, not too long before we ran into this issue, my little sister used this laptop in the rain. I don't know if that helps or not, but there you go. Help?

After Windows 10 update, network driver missing

It appears that the drivers might be incompatible with Windows 10.

Let us follow the below steps, and check if it helps.



Step 1: Initially, I suggest you to run Network Adapter troubleshooter.

Network Adapter troubleshooter finds and fixes problems with wireless and other Network Adapters.

• 
  Press Windows key + X key and Select
  Control Panel
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select View All on the top left corner.
  
• 
  Run Network Adapter troubleshooter.
  

Step 2: Install the driver in compatibility mode

Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.

Follow the below steps:

• Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select
  Properties.
• Select Compatibility tab.
• Place a check mark next to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select
  previous the version of Windows (Windows 8) from the drop down list.
• Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

I sugest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.

Method 1:

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet connection. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your internet.

Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
  
• 
  Run the Internet Connection troubleshooter
  

Method 2:

Try updating the Network Adapter drivers from the manufacturer's website and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to update the Network Adapter drivers:

• 
  Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
  
• 
  Expand Network Adapter.
  
• 
  Right-click on the Ethernet and click on Update driver software.
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check.
  

Check if it helps.

If the issue persists, I suggest you to download and install the latest Wi-Fi drivers in manufacturer website and check if it helps.
